Prayer at an event? Tulsa 9-18-11

I have attended most of the IFO events in this region and this is the first time I have heard a prayer service at one of these.  Of course it doesn't surprise me that I would have to hear it at the center of the bible belt and my own home track in Tulsa Ok.  I just wanted to make it clear that there were several people there that were uneasy with this my wife and myself included.  If you want religion go to church, but you shouldn't have to stomach this stuff at an event or in public.  Don't confuse this with the national anthem which is part of tradition at race events that is fine.

Is this something that is becoming part of the IFO series?  If so we won't be attending another one which is unfortunate as it is really the only event that we get around here.

I respect your opinion. But it sounds like a bad reason to not go to an event. It's not like you had to sit through a whole service that lasted an hour. I have attended numerous events that had an opening prayer. If you don't like it you just ignore it and appreciate the IFO event as a whole. Because let's face it IFO puts on great events that you should attend. click

That is true and I would hate to miss an event over something so stupid call me a martyr.  Really it is just the point of the matter, certain things have a time and a place and that isn't one of them.
