There are many (probably20 or so) 4cyl ford mustangs out there accross the country, that would be legal for the Pro and sport rear wheel drive class. I doubt theres even one that could even win a round in the PRO class. And maybe one or two rounds in the sport class... I say lets make them legal so the field can grow and the purse can go up... I know races like Kansas and Wichita a few would show up but not leave with any money as there cars are really heavy!
I would say lets let them in, to bolster the class and raise car counts.. What do you think?,Joe Laramee
Cliff, You do remember Rockingham and the 16 people i brought with me. 6 of those have Mustangs and are willing to run the outlaw class... There not many that show up for this class and as i say probably none of them are fast enough to win anything....Lets pick out one race, preferably St. Louis or Columbus, were they can show up and race in the outlaw class.
That away if anyone complains, you dont have to have them back, you know trial basses. I can bring in alot of car count same as sponsorship. There a great bunch of guys , no trouble makers in the bunch, who want to race but dont have a good out, for headsup racing only being a 4 cyl. There smaller then a Supra and only 2 valve motors so they dont make crazy power.... Try it once,, it will work!,Joe Laramee/ Performance Porting Service
I would hope other racers will post on this thread, and give us your opinion.
RWD Domestics do at our events all the time. Example... Grand National Bracket, Domestic Street Q8, etc.
Thats basicly what they have been doing for the last 5 years or so at the MNRA, NMCA races, but everyone knows what everyone else runs and its not headsup, its brackets, index or Open comp and have to run against v8 cars.. Most of them would like to race other 4cyl. cars of other makes and models. Races that are a little more fair. Over all everything about there cars are legal for the FIP or FIS other then the bodies, which are very heavy, 3000 ot 3100lb. on Dot Tires.,Joe L.
I don't think anything should change! IFO is a BLAST! Awesome job Mr. Wallace sir! Aside from the police/traffic cop at october baytown IFO being completely confuzzled and lost, the event was just awesome! Can't wait for next month!
