Anyone else gettin' a little......anxious? Can't be just me!
I saw you in the lanes Shag.
We were have a little difficulty on Saturday with the new electronic overhead switch panel we had installed over the winter. Car would get to the middle of the run, then just shut down. After two attempts, we loaded up, took the car back home to Clovis and changed it back to the switch panel we had before. I had also changed my rear control arm pivot position higher, and I'm using a softer clutch. I expected the launches to be less wheelie prone, but it stood up on the wheelie bars pretty hard anyway! It wasn't squatting as much, so I figured I'd soften up the rear shocks too before coming back for Sunday.
As hoped, everhing worked like normal after switching the switch panel back to the original one. I took three clicks out of the rear shocks, and the launches felt nice and smooth. The first two runs were not quite all the way "In It" as the motor didn't have any runs on it yet. The last two, I went "All In". Runs in order were 11.59@115, 11.60@116, 11.47@117 and 11.49@118. All the short times were 1.52 or 1.53 except for the 11.60 run, which was the only run in the left lane. That one was 1.59.
I used the " full tree" lane since that's what we will be on at the March Meet. Took some getting used to, but got some green lights the last runs. That puts us in the ballpark at least.
We made all four runs in the space of two hours. We were done by 11am. I had the fuel curve pretty fat, and i don't think the heads ever got any hotter than 150 degrees. You could lay yours hands on 'em by the time we got back to the pits.
After we were done, we watched for a while, and got a healthy "Nitro Fix" from a couple of the AA/FCs pitted close to us.
That big whiff of nitro fumes pretty much got me primed for the "BigShow!"
